Eden Valentine has arrived!
I am excited to announce Miss Eden Valentine Bettger to the world!
She weighed in at 7lbs 5 ounces. Was born on September 15th.
The labor couldn’t have gone better.
Here is the birth story
Octavia’s (our Oldest Daughters) birthday is on September 14th. As soon as we found Eden’s projected due date (September 13th) Octavia was super excited at the possibility of Eden coming on her birthday. Octavia was even praying for Eden to come on that special day. Teresa and I were a bit nervous about it, but thought what a great way to show how God answers prayers if Eden was born on the 14th. It would be a testimony for the rest of their lives on how God answers prayers.
Things didn’t quite go the way we hoped. Instead they went better!
We got to spend the whole day celebrating our oldest girls birthday.
Teresa started timing contractions while we were out eating Octavia’s birthday cake with the grandparents. They were about 15 minutes apart.
After the birthday cake we went to sign Octavia and Belladona (our middlest daughter) up for the local AWANA club. It was totally crazy. The contractions were starting to get more intense. They were timing 8 minutes apart at this point. Teresa needed to sit down while I dealt with the mayhem of signing the kids up. We finally got through and went home.
When we got home the girls got ready for bed, we read a book, and prayed them good night. As soon as they fell asleep the contractions were at 4 minutes. So we waited through the hour making sure the timing was consistent. When that hour was up, we packed up our bags and called our friend Amelia who came to stay with the girls as we went to the hospital.
On our way there Teresa expressed her concern and worry that she may not be dilated enough to stay at the hospital, and therefore we should wait until we make sure we are staying to call the extended family. The reason for her skepticism was simply that we had been to the hospital twice in the last month thinking the baby was coming.
When we arrived nothing could’ve gone better. Teresa was dilated to five, contractions were regular, we got right out of triage and into a room. The epidural was then administered and we just waited.
Around 7am the doctors set up for Teresa to begin pushing. She pushed through five contractions and wallah a baby girl!
We are so excited and blessed to have this little edition to our family. It was a great gift that we were able to celebrate Octavia all day on the 14th and when Octavia and Bella got up in the morning their auntie Nej, and oldest cousin TT (9 years old) came to get them to go see their new little sister.
Thank you for all of your prayers, meals, financial support, and friendship. It has been a great month, and I am glad I finally get to share this experience with all of you!
Thank God for His life giving blessings!!
